After a competitive round of applications from multiple universities, Mia Anthony from the the University of Pittsburgh was selected as our 2023 recipient for the Dayna Brons Memorial Scholarship. Mia impressed the committee with her maturity, her vision for the future of athletic medicine, – especially the future of women in athletic medicine – and her academic successes. Additionally, she earned very high praise from her academic and clinical faculty, specifically noting her ability to be inclusive, knowledgeable, and trustworthy; these descriptors are above average for a first-year student in the health professions, and made her application stand out.
